Any channel or direct message can become a call. Live Chat runs in the browser and the mobile app with no extra software, and everyone in the conversation is invited automatically.
Click Live Chat in the conversation header. You join immediately with your microphone muted and camera off, so nothing is broadcast until you choose. A system message in the conversation records that the call started.
Every other member sees an incoming call notification with a ringing sound and Join or Dismiss. On mobile, the notification vibrates and dismisses itself after 30 seconds. Members can also join later from the conversation while the call is active.
| Control | Notes |
|---|---|
| Mute / Unmute | Microphone. Starts muted. |
| Turn on camera / Turn off camera | Video tile for you. Participants without video show their avatar. |
| Share Screen / Stop Sharing | Web only. Your screen appears as a tile labelled Your Screen for you and Name's Screen for others. |
| Leave Live Chat | Leaves the call; the conversation stays open. |
The call window can be shrunk to a floating bar so you can keep working in Airstudio, with small previews of participants and a button to return. On mobile a green bar shows at the top of other screens while you are on a call.
A call ends when the last participant leaves. Calls are also closed automatically if everyone has dropped off or after four hours, so a forgotten call never runs on. On mobile, sending the app to the background leaves the call for you.
