Retouching applies automated edits to photographs stored in Airstudio: colour and exposure correction, eyes opened, blemishes removed, backgrounds extracted, yearbook crops applied. Select the photos, choose the operations, and the results land in a Retouching folder ready to download. It is paid for in credits.

Starting a retouching job

  1. In any Files tab, select the photos or whole folders to edit, then choose Actions → Retouching. You can also open Retouching at the top of the Files page and start from there.
  2. Pick the operations, one or many, from the groups below. A saved profile applies a preset combination in one click.
  3. Choose how long to hold results: 1 hour, 6 hours, or 24 hours. Results are purged after that unless downloaded.
  4. Submit. Progress is shown per photo, and you can keep working while the batch runs.

Results

Each batch writes its output to a dated folder under Retouching at the top of the Files tree, alongside the originals, which are never changed. Download the folder as a ZIP, move finished images onto the job or subject, or share them with a download link. Batches that were not downloaded before their hold time expire and are removed to keep storage down.

The Retouching area is open to every permission level, including General Staff, so a photographer can collect their own results.

Credits

Every photo produced costs a base number of credits, with a small surcharge per operation applied. The console shows the cost before you submit. Credits come from your subscription each month and from Buy Credits top-ups; larger purchases have a lower price per credit. Usage and remaining balance are shown in the console.

Desktop App and hot folders

The Desktop App tab pairs a computer in the studio with Airstudio. A hot folder on that computer watches a local directory: drop photos in, and they are uploaded, retouched with the folder's profile, and the results returned to a local output directory and to a Retouching folder in Airstudio. Use it for a card-reader workflow on picture day, so images are edited before anyone opens a browser.

Build one profile per product line, for example Yearbook Standard with colour, retouch, and yearbook crop. Photographers pick the profile and never have to remember the operations.
