Three configuration tabs under Tasks define the vocabulary every task uses. Set them before building templates.

Statuses

A status says where the work is: To Do, In Progress, Waiting on School, Complete, Cancelled, or whatever your team says. Each has a Name and Color, and up to three flags:

Flag Meaning
Initial New tasks start here. Exactly one status should have it.
Completed Marks the task done. The Complete button, bulk Complete, and completion notifications all look for this status. Exactly one status should have it.
Cancelled The task is abandoned without being done. Bulk Cancel uses it, and cancelled tasks are excluded from overdue counts.

Statuses with these flags cannot be deleted. Add as many unflagged statuses as your workflow needs; state transitions can move tasks between them automatically.

Statuses also have an Order. Drag the rows on the Statuses tab to reorder them: that order sets how statuses are listed in every status dropdown and the left-to-right column order on the Tasks Workflow board, so arrange them the way the work actually flows. New statuses are added at the end.

Priorities

A priority says what to look at first. Each has a Name, Color, and position in the Order. The defaults are Urgent, High, Medium, Low; rename, recolor, and reorder to match your studio. Priority is a sortable column on the Tasks list and can be set in bulk. Setting or changing a priority can notify assignees when the Task Priority Set notification is enabled. Screenshots and background are on the page below.

Expense Types

An expense type is a category of cost logged against tasks: Lab, Shipping, Mileage, Contractor. Each has a Name, Color, and optional Default Cost that pre-fills new expenses. One type is marked Default and is selected first when adding an expense; to change it, mark another type default. See Expenses.

Keep statuses to what changes hands or waits on someone. To Do → In Progress → Waiting on School → Complete covers most studios; add more only when a report or an automation needs the distinction.
